Celebrate Open Education Week, March 7 -11!

An annual celebration, Open Education Week (OE Week) is an opportunity for actively sharing and learning about the latest achievements in Open Education worldwide.
Franklin University is committed to reducing the cost of textbooks to our students. We do that in a variety of ways, including using ebooks available through the Franklin University library and by using Open Educational Resources (OER) in courses as much as possible.
What is OER?
There is no single definition of OER. According to UNESCO, the United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organization, open educational resources (OER) are, “any type of educational materials that are in the public domain or introduced with an open license. The nature of these open materials means that anyone can legally and freely copy, use, adapt and re-share them.”

How does this affect you?
One or more of your courses may be using OER as replacement for a traditional textbook or other course material. This can save you and your fellow students thousands of dollars over the course of your degree in additional costs.
